How much does CDL school cost?

Updated October 2026

CDL training costs vary widely by school, state and program length. Private schools often charge several thousand dollars for Class A training, community colleges vary, and company-sponsored programs may cost little upfront in exchange for a work commitment.

Costs beyond tuition

Permit and license fees, the DOT physical, endorsement tests, and living costs if you can't work while training.
