CDL apprenticeships: get paid while you train
Updated October 2026
A registered apprenticeship combines training with a paid job. In trucking, that usually means a carrier trains you, then pays you while you drive alongside a mentor and build experience.
Why it's worth a look
You earn while you learn, you finish with a credential and experience, and the employer often covers training costs.
How to find one
Search the U.S. Department of Labor's apprenticeship job finder (link below) for truck driver apprenticeships, ask your American Job Center, and ask carriers directly whether they offer a registered program.
